More U-S troops on duty while Iraq tries to seal up Cabinet posts

BAGHDAD, Iraq The U-S military has confirmed that 15-hundred more combat troops are now on duty to try to tame a hotbed of the Iraqi insurgency.

The deployment moved a reserve force from Kuwait into the Anbar province to try to establish order between Baghdad and Syria. A U-S commander says it's a short-term measure.

The reinforcements moved into place while Iraq's new premier planned the installation of two new top Iraqi officials.

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki (NOO'-ree ahl-MAH'-lih-kee) says he'll present his choices for defense and interior ministers during a weekend session of the Iraqi parliament. He's been under mounting pressure to fill in the blanks in a Cabinet whose presence is considered essential to calming Iraqi unrest.
