Construction work has begun on a project to build a 540 billion Iraqi dinar ($464 million) integrated medical teaching city in Babil, Iraq's Ministry of Higher Education said Thursday (April 17th).
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ali al-Adeeb took part in a celebration held to lay the foundation stone for the facility, which is being constructed in central al-Hilla.
"The city will include more than 100 beds, a centre for cancer and other medical research, a centre for practical applications, halls for research, reading and lectures, as well as labs, specialised scientific departments, master's and doctoral research departments and a modern library," al-Adeeb said.
Work on the complex is expected to be completed by the end of 2016, he said.
