A group of Iraqi businessmen will arrive in Shanghai this afternoon and are expected to purchase over US$1 billion of goods at a business exhibition hosted by the Shanghai International Merchandising Center later this week, the Oriental Morning Post reported today. The 50-member business group will join a meeting in Shanghai Mart starting tomorrow to Thursday. "We'll mainly purchase construction material, automobile, medical equipment, petrifaction and electricity generator products. Also, we are interested in light industry products, such as home appliances, clothes, toys and home cleaning equipment," an official of the Iraqi group told the Shanghai-based newspaper. "Automobile and industrial equipment must be of very high quality. These products are important, since they're directly connected with the country's daily operation. We hope they can be used for a long time," the official said. The Shanghai International Merchandising Center succeeded in holding the first commercial meeting with the Iraqi business group last September. For this year's arrangement, the Center has put more efforts to promote the business deals with the group. |
