Iraq eyes more Kuwaiti investments - NIC chief

KUWAIT, Jan 16 (KUNA) -- Iraq is eyeing greater contribution from Kuwaiti investors to development and rebuilding, visiting Iraqi National Investment Commission Chief, Dr. Sami Al-Aaraji said Monday.
"The goal of this visit is to discuss the prospects of joint cooperation with the Kuwaiti investors," Al-Aaraji said in a meeting with representatives of the Kuwaiti private sector and Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), attended by KCCI Deputy Chairman Khaled Al-Sager.
Al-Aaraji detailed the investment opportunities available in Iraq in various fields like gas, agriculture, electricity, telecommunications, tourism, transport, education, ports and healthcare.
He also briefed the audience on the facilities and guarantees provided by Iraq to Kuwait investors and urged them to benefit from the investment opportunities and pump more investments in Iraqi market.
"Iraq is eyeing greater contribution from Kuwaiti investors in development and rebuilding," he said.
For his part, KCCI Deputy Chairman Al-Sager welcomed with Al-Aaraji's visit.
"We are looking forward to working with the Iraqi side to improve trade and economic relations between the two countries," he said.
Al-Sager added KCCI has made significant efforts since the war of liberation of Iraq in 2003 restore bilateral economic cooperation to previous status, noting that Kuwait was the first supporter of Iraq reconstruction.
