SHANGHAI: China's yuan weakened slightly on Wednesday in line with a softer central bank midpoint.
The People's Bank of China set the midpoint rate at 6.1268 per dollar prior to market open, moderately weaker than the previous fix 6.1226.
The spot market opened at 6.2161 per dollar and was changing hands at 6.2164 at midday, 22 pips away from the previous close and 1.46 percent away from the midpoint. The spot rate is currently allowed to trade with a range 2 percent above or below the official fixing on any given day. The offshore yuan was trading -0.05% away from the onshore spot at 6.2195 per dollar.
