16 investment companies return to Iraq

Sixteen foreign companies have resumed work on investment projects they had halted in June after the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) began launching attacks on Iraqi towns, the Baghdad Investment Commission said Wednesday (November 19th).

"Sixteen foreign investment companies have resumed their work in Baghdad after stopping their operations because of the security situation following the June 10th events," said commission chairman Shaker al-Zameli.

Work is now under way to complete 70 projects in the infrastructure, housing, energy and service sectors, he added.

Iraqi security readiness and the security of the capital and its perimeter encouraged those companies to resume their operations in Baghdad, he said.
